Why do this
Every Sunday, I sit down to write this short newsletter.
There is no aim for it, no goal, no grand business plan.
Sometimes, like today, I don’t really have anything to write about, but I still do it.
Why?
I’m not too sure.
But I always thought it was good practice to write things down—when we study, have an idea, or try to work out a problem.
I guess these newsletters are a kind of journal, a therapeutic device where I look back at the week to stop and think about what happened, how I felt and the highs and lows.
It’s so easy to go through each day and week looking forward, as we are always busy, and the next thing that needs doing is just around the corner.
Sitting down and writing a short journal allows us to stop, reflect, and perhaps learn lessons for the future.
It doesn’t have to be public like this one - I am an attention addict, that’s why I do it this way - but even a private reflection is worthwhile.
And free.
PODCAST PRODUCER LATEST
OK, not a good week. Let me vent.
The new version of Pro Tools is out, promising many bug fixes plus exciting new features.
Bear in mind that I pay a monthly subscription to use the software.
I upgraded, and…everything is worse. CPU spikes, lagging, and errors.
OK, what to do?
I know! Let’s upgrade to the latest MacOS, as it should be more compatible with my M1 Max chip.
Let’s go!
After the upgrade, the screen freezes during the boot. I have to restart it several times and/or disable login items to get the system moving.
Ultimately, I had to revert to a previous version of Pro Tools, disable login items and update my plugins.
Seriously.
YOUTUBE
OK, so this is a totally different kind of video. We did a reaction one as I wanted to try something different. It’s safe to say it triggered a lot of people…:)
BOOKS
Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson. The biography is long, but it reads well. It’s interesting how many different projects Da Vinci started and never finished. He also never published any of his works, meaning his findings were discovered hundreds of years after his death. I wonder that if he was more interested in sharing his knowledge, would it advance science earlier?
FUN
Underoath. We want to see them play in Bristol. I knew literally nothing about them except that one song they did for the latest BMTH album. But I listened to a few before, read their wiki and thought it could be a good gig (considering there aren’t many heavier ones this summer).
It was really good, actually. Great energy, performance and overall vibes.
We’ve been watching the latest season of The Boys, which, unfortunately, is not as good as the previous ones. It’s ok, but they are dragging it out a little bit.
But in the meantime, Invincible is keeping me entertained - great series!
That's it for now.
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
