Patience
We often plan, rush, and are impatient to get the results.
I know that I am like that.
But as I gained more experience, I started to learn that not only do things take time, but they also have to be at the right time and place.
Case in point: my wife’s business.
For years, she ran the dog supplement online shop as a side business. It was profitable, but nothing amazing.
At times, I was annoyed that she was not doing more, didn’t feel urgency, and didn’t give the required 200% effort.
But things take time.
Over that time, she learned and improved, then started a YouTube channel, got certified, created valuable relationships, and gathered insider knowledge of the industry.
And now it’s all coming together as she has a clear vision of where to take it.
If we were to push before, it wouldn’t work - the time wasn’t right.
But now all the parts are there, and it’s so obvious to me that the time was necessary to ‘sharpen the axe’.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON
Casefile is back this Saturday, but there is more!
We are officially launching a Polish dub of the podcast - starting with three episodes on Saturday.
Guess who is narrating - yours truly!
I have been talking and thinking about doing the Polish dub for a long time, but as I wrote above, it finally felt right. I didn’t plan to narrate; on the contrary, for some time, I was looking for other people.
But, if you want to do something right, do it yourself!
You can listen to the trailer here.
We also released a great video on my YouTube channel. I think it’s one of my favourites and definitely the best one edited by my youngest brother Piotr.
WHAT AM I READING
Vagabonding by Rolf Potts. A so-called ‘bible for travellers’, recommended by digital nomads, long-term travellers and people who live on a road for an extended period.
It’s ok. A bit pretentious at times with a very Western outlook on the world. But many ‘digital nomads’ are like that ( yes, I am being judgmental), finding spirituality because they go outside the Western liberal bubble. We get it, most of the world is poor.
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. A kind of spiritual tale about englightment and self-discovery. It’s a very short read and a Buddhist classic. It was sitting in my Kindle library for literally years. But I finally read it last week. It’s alright.
The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi. It’s a guide of warrior principles written by 17th century undefeated Samurai. It’s about practice, self-control and humility. A great read after watching Shogun.
WHAT AM I LISTENING
OK.
It’s happening.
Black Sabbath announced they would get together for one last time in July with an unbelievable lineup.
The Best of Black Sabbath double cassette was the first album I bought just for myself when I was a kid. Electric Funeral was the first song I learned on a guitar. Embryo was my gaming nickname for years.
Please, Gods of Metal, let me secure the tickets this week.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
High Potential. After Shogun, Paulina wanted something easy to watch, so we put High Potential on. If I were to describe it somehow, I would say - a cheesy Sherlock for middle-aged mums. It’s very American; the writing is pretty bad and the music is atrocious. But…it’s an easy, enjoyable watch. People like it, I like it. And as other comments say, I’m glad that Kaitlin Olson finally got a chance to be a lead - we all love her from Always Sunny.
Ant-Man Quantumania. As we are still catching up on Disney+, I go through the Marvel movies I missed. Ant-Man was one of my favourites films I worked on, but this one is very much 6/10. Watch and forget. The plot is quite weak, they scrapped Kang as villain plus the CGI looks pretty bad at times.
Mandalorian. I loved the first 2 seasons of Mando, and it finished on a high note. But of course, the company needed to sell more toys, so they brought Grogu and Mando back for S3. I have only started it now, and it’s pretty but also boring. 6+/10.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
