No one cares
One of the freeing moments I had years ago was realising that no one really cares about anyone but themselves. Or rather, no one really thinks about anyone else.
Radical, but true.
Most of our daily thoughts are about what we have done, are doing, or have to/want to do.
It’s a constant me, me, me.
It’s Darwinism, evolution, ego, consciousness or whatever you want to call it.
The truth is, we are self-absorbed.
And even when we are thinking about others, it’s usually through the perspective of ourselves anyway.
Now, I don’t mean that we don’t care about our partners, children, and friends.
We do.
But the majority of our daily thoughts are about us.
When I learned that (probably from a smart book), I realised two things.
One was that if you do an unexpected thing for someone, it’s greatly appreciated. We love it when someone does that.
Two is, no one really cares about what I do.
As long as it’s not harming anyone or anything, it’s fine.
If people like it, they may comment and then move on with their day.
If they hate it, they may comment and then move on with their day.
That’s it.
And that means that when I want to create something and put it out there, I just do it and don’t really think about it that much.
In the long run, we are all dead anyway.
WORK
Podcasting
We are getting ready for a new Casefile season.
So far, we released a few episodes as part of a new Casefile Archives series, but brand new episodes start in a couple of weeks.
We will begin with a massive 4-part series. And a fun fact - the last time we released 3 part series was three years ago. And the last time we released 4 part series was four years ago.
YouTube
I released a couple of videos last week, and the second one was on my new channel.
BOOKS
Wiedźmin by Andrzej Sapkowski
Still reading the saga.
LIVE
Batman Live
I love live music, and I love movies. So what’s better than a live orchestra performing Danny Elfman’s score to a classic 1989 Burton Batman?
Nothing. I had a grin throughout the whole showing.
GAMES
The Last of Us Part 2 (Remastered)
I finally had time to play, and the storytelling is incredible. I know the sequel was controversial, but love it or hate it, you can’t say that the production is less than amazing.
MOVIES/TV
Pluribus
Finished the Apple show, and so far it’s my favourite one I watched this year. Some people criticised it for being a slow burn, and while it’s fair, they missed the point of the story.
Rather than sci-fi, we have to look at it through the lens of exploring human nature with sci-fi elements added on top. And the fact that the main character is so unlikable is a cherry on top.
The annoying thing is that we have to wait like 2 years for the second season.
What is up with that?! Seriously, they have to sort out these long waits.
Drops of God
I wanted to watch something else, and this French/Japanese/English drama about wine (based on anime) was a good choice. I think because of the foreign languages and subs, it flew under the radar, but so far, it’s an absolutely outstanding series.
And makes me want to drink wine.
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you (hopefully!) next week!
