Never retire
Last week was more exciting, with work picking up and two great outings.
The first was the War Horse play, which was intense but really well done, and I was amazed by the creativity of the production. Not a light watch, though.
But the event I was most looking forward to was Iron Maiden playing Birmingham on their latest tour.
Now, I am not a big Maiden fan. Of course, I listened to some in my teenage years, but I wouldn’t count myself as their lover.
However, when they announced the UK tour, I knew I had to see them (never had before).
It was all sold out, but I managed to get resale tickets to Birmingham, and on Saturday, we drove to see the living legends perform live.
Average crowd age: 50+
Average Maiden age: 65+
Energy and vibe: timeless
It is incredible to see people like them, celebrating 50 (!) years of playing and still giving their all. While melting due to the unbearable temperatures of the heat wave.
I was dying, I don’t even know how they got through it. They did, though, and the fans loved it.
It’s the image I took that says it all.
No retirement, we’ll die doing this.
And that’s a path I can follow.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON
There is quite a lot we are working on. Even though Casefile is on a mid-year break, we are already working on the next episodes.
A new Casefile Presents show is entering post-production, and I have 4 weeks to put it all together for a mid-July release.
There are a couple of projects that we may start soon, and of course, we also do the videos, Polish dubs and a bunch of other things.
It never stops (nor do we want it to stop).
We released a really good video on an unbelievable international crisis caused by a silly movie. And I had some connection to it, too!
WHAT AM I READING
The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan. I couldn’t decide what to read next, so I picked one of the self-help books I had on my Kindle. Yep, it’s one of these that stretches one sentence into 200 pages. I’ll just flip through it.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
Silo. In the last post, I mentioned Shrinking, but we switched it off on episode 1 - definitely not my cup of tea. We started Silo, a dystopian sci-fi which is more of my jam. It’s good, but very much of a slow burn. Enough to keep going, but they could pick up the pacing just a tiny bit.
Iron Maiden. As above, it was great.
War Horse. A really great play, and the puppeteers made it feel like it was real horses on the stage. It was an intense viewing, though, showing the horrors of WWI with minimal, but intentional production.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
