Happy Easter!
The purpose of this newsletter is twofold.
One, I like writing, and it’s a nice creative outlet to sharpen my skills.
Two, it makes me reflect on the past week.
On the surface, nothing happened.
We didn’t go to any gigs, events, or do anything ‘fun’ to write about. We had a nice, quiet Easter with a round of mini golf.
And yet, that’s most of our life. That’s how it passes us by. Quietly.
When I dig deeper, though, I also learned bad news about a person I know. It made me sad, but also reminded me how important our health is.
I replaced our TV and finally became an OLED wanker (spent an evening setting up the perfect picture - it’s glorious).
I did some work, went to the gym, for a few walks, played some music, and watched some TV.
And that’s another week gone, how many more do I have?
Not too sure, but I read something a long time ago that stuck with me.
“How you spend your days is how you spend your life”
Every day matters, even if it’s setting up the new TV.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON
Content creation, entertainment, and media is such a fickle business that every day I question my life choices. At the same time, I know that it’s the only way I can give an outlet to my creativity.
It took us over 3 weeks to prepare the longest video we have ever done. It’s excellent (yes, I'm biased), but it hasn’t taken off.
Disappointed? Yes, I am.
But, there is always another day.
WHAT AM I READING
City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett. I have finished the first book in the trilogy—Divine Cities—and am 40% through the second, which I am enjoying a whole lot more than the first. Of course, I know the world, so there's less need for setup. What’s interesting is that for each of the books, we have a different protagonist (connected, though), which gives a different perspective to each story.
WHAT AM I LISTENING
Maidens are back on the menu.
I was able to secure a couple of tickets to Iron Maiden's upcoming tour. Even though I was never the biggest fan, it’s the gig I'm most excited about.
(it could be their last tour!)
June is looking very good indeed.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
Wicked. It was the first musical that Paulina and I ever saw, well over a decade ago (we saw it again last year), but when the movie came out, I missed it. We finally got to see it over Easter, and I am happy to report that it was better than I expected. Even though it was long, it didn’t feel like it and in my view it perfectly adapted the vibe of the original. We’ll definitely see Part 2 in the cinemas this year.
We finished Severance and are about to finish The Wheel of Time.
What’s next? There are several shows on the list, but I'm thinking of Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman.
One thing is for sure - it will all look great on the new TV.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
Mike
