First trip of the year
No post last week as we were away in Poland, which was the first trip we took this year.
Last year was full of travels - I calculated that we left Benji at dog-boarding for over 60 days total in 2023!
After that, I had enough aeroplanes and airports.
But!
It was time to visit the family, especially since there were a couple of additions in the last few months (I mean babies).
So we flew to Gdansk and met up with the fam, but we also had tickets to the Mystic Festival, a heavy metal fest at the old shipyard.
We could sneak away with Paulina’s youngest sisters in the afternoons and see some bands.
The two big ones were Megadeath, which is very popular in Poland and played top class even though they are old-school.
On Saturday, we saw Bring Me The Horizon, which we saw this year in Cardiff. Again, a great performance solidifies them as a proper festival band.
I also really liked the space. Of course, the festival was much smaller than the UK’s Download, but because it took place in the shipyard rather than a field, the vibe and the environment were really good.
Mystic is becoming one of Europe's biggest rock and metal festivals, so if there is a good lineup next year, we will be there!
Other than that, we don’t have other plans for summer (yet), but it’s still early days.
PODCAST PRODUCER LATEST
The latest Casefile Presents podcast is out!
Troubled Waters is an Australian show we worked on for the last few months, and now you can listen to it in full and for free wherever you get podcasts.
It’s a story led by a private investigator, Julia, who tries to find out what really happened to a young woman found dead in a shallow creek.
The podcast is really good (yes, I am biased). I did the overall sound production as well as music composition.
YOUTUBE
The latest season of The Boys is out, and I thought making a video about the show's audio production would be a fun idea.
BOOKS
Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman. Friedman was one of the most influential economists and proponents of free markets. The book is quite old, and from the perspective of time, it is interesting to see which ideas worked and which didn’t.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
