In a sound wave, there is a trough after a peak.
A week ago, I finished at an incredible peak. The guests left, the festival ended, and we could return to work.
So naturally, on Tuesday morning, I started catching up with work, answering emails and even sneaked in a workout session in the evening.
I had a bit of a cough, but I decided it was the allergy season, so there was nothing to worry about.
Then it hit me on Wednesday - a full-blown flu with body shakes, fever, cough and overall misery.
I am still not well when writing this newsletter, and my diet is currently liquid paracetamol and other weird-tasting medicines.
It’s bad, and it’s my fault.
Even before the festival, I had very little sleep because of the podcast conference and wanting to prep everything before our trip. Then when the guest came, we had a week of fun, but it was over the top with little sleep, lots of adrenaline and giving it all in the crowds.
After the festival, rather than taking a day or two to rest, I assumed to return to my usual routine, and everything would be alright.
Well, at some point, when you push too hard, the body says no, and there is nothing you can do.
The punishment is a week of misery as I am trying to fight off the illness and, at the same time, keep up with the bare minimum.
The problem with running 100 miles/hour all the time is that eventually, we trip up and fall.
PODCAST PRODUCER LATEST
I’m reviewing the latest Casefile episodes and slowly preparing them for a release.
I also have two Casefile Presents shows I am working on and, hopefully, will get up to speed on them too.
YOUTUBE
In the last week, we’ve released a short video on using Apple AirPods as your mixing reference headphones, plus a few other shorts.
LEARNING
I submitted the first assignment a week early. It’s all about music editing, which is right up my alley, so I am curious how well I get graded.
Could it be better? Yes.
But I am ill, so I get a pass. Man-flu is no joke.
BOOKS
Women without kids by Ruby Warrington. This is the latest read for my book club. As much as I agree with the premise, I didn't like the writing and, by extension, the author's style. It's a good topic, but she didn't earn a fan in me.
100 million dollar offers by Alex Hormozi. A business book by one of the latest internet gurus. I don't know if the guy is a scammer, but it's a good read. Another take on copywriting and business dealings, which no doubt can help create your offers.
FUN
Arnold. A 3-part documentary series on Arnie. I liked reading his biography and thoroughly enjoyed the TV series, which was split into three areas Arnie conquered - bodybuilding, acting and politics. Like everyone, he is not a perfect person and made many mistakes over the decades, but he is undoubtedly an inspiration and ideal motivation when needed.
Human Resource. 2nd season of the spinoff created by the Big Mouth people. It’s light; it’s fun and gross—nothing to dislike.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
