Change
Is inevitable
I didn’t send any newsletters last week as I was away visiting friends and family, shooting guns at a range and head banging to Rammstein. It was a great time away to relax, recharge and reflect.
As of writing this, on the 5th of August 2023, 17 years have passed since I emigrated from Poland to England, UK. I was 18, fresh out of high school, with no idea what to do with my life.
I’ve never been abroad before, never been anywhere by myself. It was a tough test, but somehow I passed it and was able to design a good life. A good relationship, a house, a dog, work that I enjoy.
However, lately, I have been feeling that something is missing and testing what it is.
People.
Even though I moved abroad by myself, not only I quickly found friends, but my close relatives and friends joined me, and we lived, studied and partied together for years. So it never felt like I was an emigrant, alone in a strange place. It was a different place, but it was home.
But this has changed in the past couple of years. I started working remotely, meaning no close workmates. My relatives and friends either moved away, moved back to Poland or started travelling. The house that I live in is in the suburbs, a driving distance from the city and its people.
Some people love the quiet and peacefulness of it, but it turns out that I don’t. I come from a big family, groups of friends always around and a buzz from being in a place where things are happening.
This last trip showed me what I am missing; it helped me acknowledge what I enjoy and admit who I am.
So the plans are brewing, and the change is coming.
PODCAST PRODUCER LATEST
I’m back at work, and over the weekend was catching up on emails and projects that needed attending. It took me a better part of an hour only to download everything that I had to work on. It’s a lot, but we’ll get through it.
What’s on the plate?
We got a couple of Casefile episodes I need to prep for our comeback in mid-August. A few episodes of a show we are releasing end of August and another show we are working on for the September release (fingers crossed).
Apart from that, the usual - fixes, pickups, redos.
Plus, I am planning the 2024 Casefile music library and other stuff. It’s all happening.
YOUTUBE
We’ve released a couple of videos. One is behind the scenes of the 2nd season of our award-winning show - Crime Interrupted.
The other is more entertaining and inspired by Oppenheimer - how does the real atomic bomb sound vs pop culture portrayal?
BOOKS
From Here to Eternity by Caitlin Doughty. It’s a book about death or, rather, funeral arrangements. How the funeral homes became a profit-seeking business, and how we can create a good send-off for our loved ones, taking inspiration from different cultures and their way of honouring the dead.
FUN
It’s always fun in Krakow - we did a lot of eating, drinking, walking, shooting guns and Rammstein!
I also finished the 3rd season of The Witcher on Netflix. The last season with Henry Cavill. It was mediocre at best, and I am losing faith in the producers. Hopefully, S4 will pick up.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
