Catching up
After the trip, the last week was quite uneventful, spent catching up on work.
It took me a few days to get into the rhythm, but it still feels like I’m always behind.
There are a couple of reasons for this, all self-inflicted.
The first is the number of different projects I want to do. Some are just experiments that I’m running (like the YouTube stuff), others are proper work that needs attention.
The other reason is that I like to be ahead. If, for example, the deadline is Friday, I give myself Monday to finish and Wednesday as an absolute time limit.
Why?
I learned that in this line of work, a few days are necessary for emergencies, as there are always last-minute corrections and fixes.
But, not to worry.
All of the above is enjoyable. I love juggling different projects and jumping from one to another throughout the day, which keeps me energised.
And I am in competition with myself on how fast I can finish them.
It goes against the mainstream ‘productivity guru’ advice, but it just shows that most of what we read online is just BS to sell scammy courses.
Everyone is different, and that is what makes life interesting.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON
We dropped a video where I do a deep dive into the Rollerball case and everything that happened during the production. It’s a new direction I want to take my channel in - interesting stories from the movie/TV world.
WHAT AM I READING
Anaximander by Carlo Rovelli. I haven’t had time to finish the book, but it’s a nice read about the history of science and what scientific thinking really is (according to the author).
WHAT AM I PLAYING
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I haven’t used my PS5 for a few months, but after reading about this game, I knew I had to try it, and I finished the story yesterday. Verdict?
Music 10/10 - I am obsessed and learning a couple of the main pieces on the piano.
Visuals/Story/Design 10/10 - absolute joy to look at, and the narrative was hauntingly beautiful.
Gameplay - Now, here is where I diverge from the rest of the players. This is a gamer’s game. What do I mean by that? It’s not a game for someone like me who hasn’t got time to invest, explore and experiment with builds and skill trees. Plus, spend time to master the dodge and parry system. For that reason, I only focused on the story, and by the end of the game, I switched the difficulty to ‘easy’ (like a filthy casual) as I was getting too frustrated with the battles. Everything else was a masterpiece, but the actual gameplay, unfortunately, was not for me anymore.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
The Accountant 2. I liked the first movie in which Ben Affleck plays an autistic assassin for hire. The sequel was fun but very far-fetched, and a sort of movie you put on a free Friday night. Which is what we did.
Shrinking. Just started this series on Apple+ starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. I’m not sure if I am into it yet.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
