Back from the Mosh
Finally, I am back home.
We were away in Gdańsk, Poland, attending a 4-day heavy metal Mystic Festival.
I could mention all the things I like about it - the eclectic music choice, the mid-size of the event (making it easier to traverse), the fact that it takes place in the city or that we can, at the same time, visit our family.
But the biggest scoring point is being among people who love music, want to support live music and find a connection in this particular genre.
Yes, people attending metal fests can look scary, but even when chatting with the cleaning staff, they said they always look forward to this festival. It’s because everyone is nice, there is no trouble or aggression, and people just want to have a good time.
Of course, there are always drunk idiots, but overall, the metal community has the best vibes (and the best look, if you ask me).
So we are back after 4 days of mosh pits, dozens of gigs, overpriced food and drinks (but tasty) and even my first crowd surf in probably like 20 years.
Had to do it, although Paulina and her sisters beat me with two each.
Well, there is always the next time, as we’ve already booked 2026!
WHAT AM I READING
Napoleon the Great by Andrew Roberts. I finally finished the book, and it sparked an interest in historical books. I already have a few on my list.
Anaximander by Carlo Rovelli. But first, I wanted to read this book by my favourite physicist author. It’s the story of a relatively unknown (by most people, including me) Greek philosopher who started scientific thought over 2,600 years ago. There isn’t much known about Anaximander, but Rovelli presents his contributions and why they were so important.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
