Another belt
I am not going to lie; it was a tough one this Saturday.
After 15 months, we attempted the next kickboxing belt, purple.
It’s the first of the advanced belts, so the requirements were much higher. The club also changed the whole syllabus last year to a new grading system.
Unfortunately, to an even harder one.
We had to do traditional line work, then combinations, and then rounds of sparring.
By the time the 2 hours were finished, I literally thought like throwing up, and I tend to think I was in pretty good condition for a 37-year-old.
But…we passed!
If we continue, we will have two more belts - brown and black.
The issue is that it gets harder with each test, but at the same time, I get older each year…
Can we do it? Can we achieve the black belt before 40?
After writing this, as I am sitting in pain, I am not sure (knowing what’s required).
But never say never!
WHAT AM I WORKING ON
Good news: after the latest Casefile Polska episode dropped, our show climbed to number 3 in the True Crime category and number 12 on the All Podcast chart in Poland (on Apple!) Fingers crossed, we can keep it up there!
YouTube gives, and YouTube takes away!
After a mad three weeks, when we had three viral videos and almost doubled our subscriber count, the latest video didn’t do that well! It's a classic case of reversal to the mean!
But never mind. It’s still a great video, and I am sure it will find its audience with time.
WHAT AM I READING
Einstein by Walter Isaacson. I have finally finished reading this biography. How different it was from the Musk one! Einstein's life was fascinating, but it’s always good to learn that people we put on a pedestal were human just like everyone else.
Benjamin Franklin by Walter Isaacson. I just started another biography, this time about one of America’s founding fathers.
The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin. Before I started a new biography I read one of his original writings, which is about virtue of persistence and hard work. It’s very short, 30 minute read.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
This week, it was time to watch Dexter’s prequel Original Sin. A lot of people were sceptical about it, but they were proven wrong. The series is great, the younger versions of the actors are brilliant, and Patrick Gibson is perfect as young Dexter. We don’t know if there will be a second season as they all are gearing up for Ressurection, but I would definitely be up for it. I recommend it to any Dexter fan.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you (hopefully!) next week!
