A lot
One week, nothing happens. Next week, everything happens.
We started by going to Moulin Rouge. I bought the tickets a while ago (as always) and didn’t expect much. But the show overdelivered.
Is it a pop, jukebox musical?
Yes. But the sets, costumes and music arrangement were great, and I dare to say that it was the best use of lighting I saw until this point.
No wonder it’s so popular.
Then we had a great weekend in Cardiff, first watching a small reggae band in a local club (as a friend joined them on stage) and then attending Rock at the Castle.
It was a day event at Cardiff Castle grounds, celebrating various Welsh bands with the headliner Funeral for a Friend, making their comeback.
On its own, it would be a fantastic day, but what made it 100x better is that a friend playing in one of the bands got us backstage passes, so we could not only hang around the bands’ tents at the back but also watch the performances from the side stage.
With the full view of the festival grounds and thousands of people.
It’s one of these unexpected experiences that stay with you for a long time.
WHAT AM I READING
Chopin by Adam Zamoyski. Didn’t have much time to read, but I am nearly done with the book. In the last chapters of Chopin's life.
WHAT AM I WATCHING
Twin Peaks. While Dexter is releasing new weekly episodes, I was thinking of what to watch next. David Lynch’s death this year reminded me of S3 Twin Peaks. It came out in 2017, but I never saw it. I had my Lynch phase more than 20 years ago, consuming his movies and TV and because it turned out that Paulina never saw Twin Peaks (seriously…) I decided to put it on and watch it together again. We are starting with S1 + S2, then Fire Walk with Me and then S3.
We are just at the beginning of it, but it is still such a weird and unusual show.
